Miyuki Koiwai(古岩井 美幸)

Miyuki Koiwai

Miyuki Koiwai is a Japanese painter based in Tokyo.

Drawn to color and form from an early age, painting has always felt like a form of breathing—something deeply connected to her inner world.

Through her experience working with interiors and lighting, and later with color and the human touch as a nail artist, she developed a sensitivity to space, atmosphere, and subtle emotional presence.

Her current practice explores nature, memory, and stillness through acrylic and oil painting.

Rather than depicting specific landscapes literally, she seeks to preserve traces of light, atmosphere, and memory within the painted surface.

By layering, wiping away, and removing color, she creates ambiguous boundaries and quiet spaces that invite the viewer to pause and reconnect with their own senses.

Painting the strength that resides in stillness.
